Snow Patrol - Ward Park, Bangor
Well over the last couple of weeks I have been making fleeting visits to Ward Park in Bangor (that’s in Northern Ireland) setting up a few VoIP phones and some wireless internet access for a company called Max WiFi.
First day on site was a quick affair to just get the production office up and running and where possible run some cables around. This went pretty well though I had to run the main line from the temporary BT PSTN drops under some track way which unforrunately despite my efforts and protests was cut the day afterwards.

So back out a couple of days later (good thing it is only a 30 minute flight!) to restore service and also finish the install prior to production arriving after the weekend.
This went pretty well, rejoined the cable and also took added some protection to hopefully stop it getting cut again. Proceeded to deploy the rest of the VoIP kit and cable up the last areas of the site. On the Sunday just as I was getting things packed away and ready to leave site the ADSL lines in the main production area all dropped sync at the same time. Someone had cut the cable again! This time we decided to get it up into the air so deployed some temporary light towers to rig the cable from, 20 minutes later and things were back up and running!

All these random disconnects had caused some throttling by BT of the BRAS line profiles, so a quick call to Zen’s excellent support team had that corrected in 20 minutes which given it was a bank holiday weekend I must say is quite impressive.

I will be heading back out to Bangor this Saturday to babysit the site and then derig and pack the equipment down ready for return to the UK.
